Munnar is a small town located at the confluence of three rivers at about 1500 meters above the sea level, in the Western Ghats. After visiting the city, temple, church, mosque and market, your driver will take you to explore surrounding area : tea plantation and tea museum, cardamom plantation, Top Station, Eravikulam national Park famous for its wild goat the Nilgiri Thar, Anaimudi (2695 m) highest peak in South India.
Forest, tea plantations, meadows , you will be marvelled at the shade of the greens on these hills specially on morning mist, sunset or in monsoon season when the sun reappears after a shower. Hills around Munnar are great places for nice treks.
In a calm and picturesque environment, Thekkadi and Periyard Wild life Sanctuary offer a wide range of activities to discover nature : trekking, boating, elephant ride, spice garden visit. Unless you prefer a journey by car on the mountain roads or near the lake to discover surrounding places. Finally at evening time attend some Kathakali and Kalaripayattu show in Thekkadi.
In the North of Kerala, Wayanad district is also located in Western Ghats. The road trip from plain up to hills across forests is spectacular in itself.
